Embark on an exhilarating voyage with the Young Editors Program, a global playground where young minds between 9-15 years old dance with creativity and curiosity. From May 31st to June 28th, participants dive headfirst into the whirlwind of crafting RIEDU’s next publication, from inception to ink. It’s not just a program; it’s a carnival of critical thinking, creativity, and camaraderie, where every child’s intellectual, social, and emotional hues bloom.
At the heart of the adventure lies the art of donning the editor’s cap, as participants traverse the labyrinth of planning, penning, pruning, and polishing. But fear not, for in this odyssey, virtual guiding stars illuminate the way, offering wisdom and warmth as young editors navigate their narrative voyage. It’s not just about perfect prose or pristine punctuation; it’s about kindling the flame of curiosity, leadership, and problem-solving, forging not just writers, but trailblazers of tomorrow. Throughout the program, biweekly virtual sessions will provide mentorship, guidance, and support as participants navigate their editorial journey. The emphasis will be on cultivating critical thinking, writing, and editing abilities, as well as fostering curiosity, team spirit, leadership, and problem-solving skills. The program is designed to accommodate every child, focusing more on their natural skills and inquisitiveness.

Week I: Orientation Phase – Immersing Into A New World
Session 1: Welcome and Introduction

– Overview of the editorial process: planning, writing, editing, and proofreading.

Week II: Planning Phase – Strategizing Dreams
Session 3: Generating Key Ideas and Identifying Central Themes
– Creative techniques for generating key ideas for the write-up.
– Identifying the central theme of the write-up.
– Group activity: 15 minutes of collaborative writing on the provided Google Doc.
– Peer Review and Post-Writing Discussion.
Session 4: Writing Engaging Content
– Techniques for crafting compelling headlines, introductions, and body content.

Week III: Writing Phase – And Now We Deep Dive!
Session 5: Writing from the Authentic Core
– Exploring how to write from the heart.

Session 6: Writing to Unfold Curiosity
– Nurturing curiosity through writing.

Week IV: Editing Phase – Forte of Good Writing
Session 7: The Art of Editing
– Understanding different types of editing: substantive, copyediting, and proofreading.
– Discussion on common editing mistakes and strategies to avoid them.
– Peer-to-peer Editing.
Session 8: Finalizing & Submission
– Techniques for effective proofreading and error detection through engaging activities.
– Peer proofreading.
– Submission of the write-up.
Week V: Graduation Ceremony – Spotlighting Success and Celebrating Milestones

Rite of Passage: A Selection Process
First Round: Fill out the Application Form
Share an original write-up of your child. We are curious to read their perspective and thoughts. We focus on originality more than perfection. Applications are open till 21st June, 2025.
Second Round: Review of Application
Only 10 Young Editors will be selected for the July 2025 batch of Young Editors Program. Each entry will be reviewed thoroughly and only selected few will be eligible for the third round. Every applicant will receive an email confirmation of their application status maximum by June 25, 2024.
Third round: Payment
Children selected as Young Editors after a successful second round will be eligible to pay the program fee of 4999 INR + GST.
Guidelines to Never Forget
- Follow RIEDU on social media for announcements and updates.
- There is a difference between inspiration and plagiarism. Plagiarism will be checked and is strictly prohibited.
- Use of ChatGPT or any GEN AI App as a writing tool is not allowed.
- We recognize the originality of a child’s thought, and value the creative imagination more than perfection.
- Content created during the program will become the property of RIEDU and can be used for promotional purpose (while crediting the YEP participant).
FAQs to Navigate like a Ninja
What is YEP?
The Young Editors Program (YEP) is a global writing platform for pre-teens and teens to don the thinking hat using their inherent creativity and curiosity to discover the process of writing.
Which age group is it designed for?
The program is designed for individuals aged 9 to 15 years (inclusive).
When is YEP taking place?
It is a month-long, four-week program starting from May 31st – June 28th 2025.
How many sessions will the month long program have?
There will be 8 sessions, with 2 sessions every weekend where we embark on a journey of ideation, writing and editing.
During the week, young editors can join the 40-minute writing sprint sessions for group writing. This is additional support provided, and it is not compulsory to participate in the writing sprints.
What is the mode of operation?
The program will be conducted virtually using Google Meet.
The virtual sessions will be on a weekend or a weekday?
Weekend
Is the time for the session pre-decided?
The preferable time is 9 am EST. However, the exact time will be finalised based on the group’s susuitability.
How long will one session be?
Sessions will vary from being 1 to 1.5 hours long. Every session is divided into 20-minute mini-sessions filled with fun activities and learning curves for the young editors.

Can my child still join if they are not into writing?
Yes, every child can participate. The program is curated by eminent educational psychologists, and educationists with a focus on nurturing the child’s curiosity, with writing being the byproduct.
Is it a global platform?
Yes, our last batch of Young Editors comprised children from 15 countries spanning North America, Europe, Africa, Australia and Asia.

What is the fee for the program?
The program fee is 70 USD 0r 5898 INR. (including GST)
When is the fee due?
Only selected candidates will be required to pay the fee. Further details will be sent via email.
Is a discount available?
Yes, an Early Bird Discount of 25% is available. The Early Bird Discount for YEP 2025 is eligible till May 5, 2025.
